Virginia Tech’s (VT) Fralin Biomedical Research Institute (FBRI) is recruiting for an exceptional investigator in cancer research at the level of Professor or Associate Professor.

The successful candidate will have a strong record of independently funded basic or translational cancer research, along with demonstrated commitment to faculty mentorship. This new position is part of a major research initiative by VT and will be located at the university’s health sciences and technology campus in Roanoke, VA (https://fbri.vtc.vt.edu/). Cancer research faculty at the Roanoke campus have particular interest in bioengineering, biomaterials, exosome biology, focused ultrasound, radiation oncology, theranostics, tumor microenvironment, and neuro-oncology.

Applicants should have an earned doctorate (PhD, MD, and/or DVM), postdoctoral research experience, at least five years of independent research experience as faculty or equivalent, a record of accomplishment and research productivity through high-quality publications, with sustained and current extramural funding. The successful candidate will primarily be expected to maintain a high-quality, extramurally-funded cancer research program. They will also have the opportunity to participate in some teaching of graduate students and to serve as a research mentor for VT graduate, medical and undergraduate students. Appropriately qualified candidates may additionally be considered for the role of deputy director of the FBRI Cancer Research Center in Roanoke.
